LASR · $83 million printed. Directed energy is the live book. The $627 million ceiling is not.

nLIGHT is high-power lasers. Q2 billed $82.6 million, $57.3 million of it aerospace and defense. Joint Laser Weapon Systems is a contract ceiling. Q3 already excludes $17 million stuck in the supply chain.

Why this name is on the tape

nLIGHT, Inc. (NASDAQ: LASR) is a Camas, Washington laser company. The products are high-power semiconductor and fiber lasers for directed energy, optical sensing, munitions, and advanced manufacturing. It is not a lidar-only name and not an “AI laser” software shop.

This article keeps Q2 aerospace-and-defense shipments apart from a Joint Laser Weapon Systems ceiling and from commercial industrial lasers. It is not a ranking of the stock and not a trade instruction.

What has actually printed

For the quarter ended 30 June 2026 nLIGHT reported record revenue of $82.6 million, up 33.8% from $61.7 million. Gross margin was 31.1%. GAAP net loss was $1.3 million. Adjusted EBITDA was $10.7 million. Product revenue was about $59 million. Advanced-development revenue was $23.2 million.

Aerospace and defense was a record $57.3 million, up 41%. A&D product revenue grew 72% year over year. Management pointed to HELSI-2, munitions, and other directed-energy and laser-sensing programs. Commercial markets — industrial plus microfabrication — billed $25.3 million, up 20%: $13.3 million microfabrication, $12.0 million industrial, including last-time buys of cutting and welding products. Last-time buys are not a new industrial growth line.

A contract ceiling is not Q2 lasers shipped

The Department of War’s Joint Laser Weapon Systems award was described as an initial $44 million with a program ceiling up to $627 million. Management said it expected the program to start contributing in the third quarter of 2026. A ceiling is not obligated value, and Q3 contribution is a target.

For Q3 the company guided revenue to $63–$73 million and said that range already excludes about $17 million of product it would have expected to ship, delayed by supply-chain constraints on optical components. A record Q2 does not automatically become a record Q3.

What this does not tell you

An $82.6 million quarter with $57.3 million of aerospace and defense is evidence that directed-energy hardware is billing. It is not proof that Joint Laser Weapon Systems funds the $627 million ceiling, that HELSI-2 stays on its internal calendar, or that the $17 million of delayed Q3 product ships later. Commercial industrial is still a quarter of the mix, and part of it is last-time buys.

On MarketNeon, LASR is a ticker like any other: price, volume, crowd mentions, and headlines can run hot on a laser-weapon clip while a supply-chain hold already sits in the next guide. This article is context for those prints. It does not rank the name, and it does not tell anyone to buy or sell.
