Why baskets exist
A single ticker can look strong while its theme is rolling over, or quiet while the whole group is being bid. Baskets average members of a theme so leadership and correlation are visible without opening every name.
What to look for
A theme advancing together is a broader tape than one outlier. A theme where members disagree — some sharply up, some sharply down — is a mixed group, not a clean rotation. Industry radar ranks sectors and industries by average return and how many names inside each group are up, which is the same idea at a classification level instead of a curated theme.
- A falling basket does not confirm a green member in Buy ideas ranking.
- Top movers inside a basket are still subject to the same liquidity and price gates elsewhere on the desk.
- Baskets are research context, not a model portfolio.
